IN VITRO TOXICOLOGY – OCULAR IRRITATION TEST
The laboratory offers ocular irritation tests.
Neutral red uptake assay:
This is an alternative to animal testing, part of a series of tests for assessing the ocular irritant potential of cosmetic products.
The principle is based on evaluating the cytotoxicity of the tested product by determining the concentration that leads to 50% mortality of the corneal fibroblasts (CI50) by using a technique involving the uptake of neutral red.
MTT conversion assay
This ocular tolerance test is carried out on human corneal epithelium reconstructed from 0.5cm² obtained from transformed human corneal keratinocytes (SkinEthic™).
The ocular irritant potential of the product being tested is determined by testing cellular viability (MTT).
